With the decreasing resources of conventional fuel supply and the increasing pollution, people are moving towards the green and eco-friendly vehicles. They have become aware that pollution caused by the automobiles is going to affect all including themselves. Also, it has become well known that the eco-friendly vehicles are not only beneficial to the environment, but also to the pocket too . The market is providing ample options to those who are thinking about the environment but also don’t want to suppress their desires of beautiful automobiles.  The trend of buying eco-friendly vehicles has increased very much in the last 1-2 years. Many new companies along with the existing ones have come up with their new and more efficient vehicle which are claiming to not to be harmful to the environment. But, one should keep certain points in mind while going to purchase an eco-friendly vehicle. Here are some tips which should be considered while buying an eco-friendly vehicle-

1.      Assess your needs.
One must properly asses the need for which the vehicle is needed. One may need to travel along distance while it may be possible that one needs to carry heavier loads. Various models and vehicles are available in the market based on the requirement. Also, the family needs can differ as per the different families.

2.      Check out the maintenance cost.
This is one of the most important point to be kept in the mind while opting for an eco-friendly vehicle. One may find a vehicle in a lesser price but it may lead to an excessive expense on its maintenance. So, one must get properly ensured about the life of various parts and their maintenance cost.

3.      Don’t forget about the battery.
While almost all the eco-friendly vehicles are coming with the batteries as their power source, it is very important to check the configurations and life cycles of the battery. Also, the charging and discharging time of the battery must not be neglected.

4.      Consider your climate and location.
It is important to consider the climate and location as different engines act differently in different conditions. Engines which are very active can lead to over-heating in hot climates while they can have ignition-related problems in cold conditions. Also, the other heating or cooling elements like A.C. or anti-freeze systems can have effects due to climate and location.

5.      Select smartly among the BEVs and HEVs
If you are planning to opt for electric vehicles, then you are having two options in front of you- Battery Electric Vehicles(BEVs) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles(HEVs). While BEVs are completely dependent on the battery for their power, HEVs come up with a backup of either petrol or diesel engine. If you are having sufficient infrastructure for the BEVs, then the BEVs are undoubtedly the best options for you but if not, then you must opt for HEVs which need not to be charged frequently.

6.      Consider the supplementary parts of your vehicle too.
One must also consider the supplementary elements of the vehicle too like the suspensions, braking systems, etc. An efficient suspension and braking system can be very helpful in reducing the fuel consumption over the uneven road surfaces and traffic areas.
